Lezione 22 · Tappa 2: Parole di tutti i giorni: pronomi, articoli, preposizioni
Preposizioni di tempo: at / on / in
PrincipiantePrepositions of time: at / on / in
Forma e uso
at 7 o'clock, on Monday, in the morning / in 2020 — quale parola va con quale momento
1.At, on, in: quale e quando?
L'inglese usa tre parole diverse per il tempo: at per un punto piccolo e preciso; on per i giorni; in per i periodi più lunghi.
| Preposizione | Si usa per | Esempi |
|---|---|---|
| at | ore, momenti precisi | at 7 o'clock, at 6:30, at noon, at midnight, at lunchtime, at sunset |
| on | giorni, date, giorni speciali | on Monday, on 2 September, on my birthday, on New Year's Day |
| in | parti della giornata, mesi, stagioni, anni, decenni, secoli | in the morning, in July, in (the) summer, in 2020, in the 1990s, in the 21st century |

- in the morning / in the afternoon / in the evening, ma at night.
- at the weekend (inglese britannico) = on the weekend (inglese americano).
- at Christmas, at Easter, at Tet (l'intero periodo di festa), ma on Christmas Day, on New Year's Eve (un giorno preciso).
- at the moment (= adesso), at the same time (= insieme, contemporaneamente).
- at the beginning of / at the end of the month: vedi anche la lezione “On time / in time, at the end / in the end”.
- Date: l'inglese britannico scrive on 5 July, quello americano on July 5; a voce si dice on the fifth of July oppure on July fifth.

5.In + un periodo: tra quanto tempo
In + un periodo di tempo significa anche “tra quel tempo, a partire da adesso”: in ten minutes, in two weeks, in a moment. Può anche indicare quanto tempo ci vuole per fare qualcosa.
