-'s일까 of일까
중급-'s or of
my sister's name, the end of the film, today's news — 누구의 것, 무엇의 것인지 나타내기
|---|---|---|
| 단수 | + 's | my sister's room, the dog's bed |
| -s로 끝나는 복수 | + ' | my sisters' room, my parents' house |
| -s로 끝나지 않는 복수 | + 's | the children's toys, the women's team, people's opinions |
| -s로 끝나는 이름 | + 's / + ' | James's car / James' car |
| 공동 주인 두 명 | 마지막 이름에 's | Lan and Minh's flat |
This is my sister's room.
This is my sisters' room.
I'm staying at my parents' house this weekend.
The children's room is upstairs.
특히 누군가의 집이나 가게·병원을 말할 때 많이 씁니다: at Lan's(란의 집에서), at the doctor's, at the hairdresser's.
This isn't my phone. It's Minh's.
We had dinner at Lan's last night.
Lan's bike(the bike of Lan도, the Lan's bike도 아님).
2.사람은 -'s, 사물은 of
사물, 생각, 어떤 것의 부분(top, bottom, end, middle, back)에는 보통 the … of …
|---|---|
| Nam's laptop | the top of the page |
| my teacher's name | the name of the street |
| the cat's tail | the end of the film |
| our boss's office | the back of the bus |
주인이 긴 어구일 때는 알아보기 쉽게 of를 씁니다: the son of the couple who live upstairs(the couple who live upstairs's son은 피함).
What's your teacher's name?
Write your name at the top of the page.
(the page's top이 아님)
We sat at the back of the bus.
회사, 기관, 도시, 나라, the world에는 's와 of 둘 다 쓸 수 있습니다.
The company's profits rose last year. = The profits of the company rose last year.
Vietnam's economy is growing fast.
Tokyo is one of the world's biggest cities.
4.시간: today's news, a week's holiday
시간을 나타내는 말에는 's를 붙일 수 있습니다: today's / yesterday's / tomorrow's, tonight's, this week's / next month's / last year's.
Have you read today's news?
(the today's news가 아님)
Last night's match was amazing.
Next week's meeting has been cancelled.
시간의 길이를 나타낼 때도 씁니다(영국 영어에서 흔함): a week's holiday, two weeks' holiday, ten minutes' walk, in a year's time. 뜻은 a one-week holiday, a ten-minute walk와 같습니다(「명사 + 명사」 레슨 참고).
I'm taking two weeks' holiday in July.
The station is only five minutes' walk from here.
