Substantivo + substantivo

Intermédio

Noun + noun

Forma e uso

a bus driver, a ten-minute walk, a coffee cup — um substantivo que descreve outro

1.Forma

  • My uncle is a taxi driver.

    Meu tio é taxista.

  • Can I have your phone number?

  • Turn left at the traffic lights.

    Vire à esquerda no semáforo.

2.O primeiro substantivo geralmente fica no singular

  • There's a new shoe shop near my house.

  • I need a new toothbrush.

Preciso de uma escova de dentes nova.

  • Where's the ticket office?

    Onde fica a bilheteria?

3.Número + substantivo: a ten-minute walk

Quando número + unidade vem antes de um substantivo para descrevê-lo, a unidade fica no singular e é ligada por hífens: a ten-minute walk, a two-hour meeting, a five-year-old boy, a three-day trip.

Depois do verbo — pluralAntes do substantivo — singular + hífen
The walk takes ten minutes. It's a ten-minute walk.
The meeting lasted two hours. We had a two-hour meeting.
My son is five years old.I have a five-year-old son.

  • My school is a fifteen-minute walk from home.

    Ficamos num hotel quatro estrelas.

  • She found a 50,000-dong note in her pocket.

4.a coffee cup ou a cup of coffee?
