It was such a wonderful surprise when the letter arrived.
11
I'd sent in a couple of pictures I'd taken in the garden
12
while I was still in work and then forgotten about it.
13
You never think it could really happen to you, do you?
14
The money certainly came in handy until I found something else.
15
I was very sceptical when she first started going in for them.
16
You know, when they're at that age and get these ideas, you worry, don't you?
17
I'd never really seen her as exceptionally clever or well-read.
18
I suppose you don't with your own.
19

21
It's a game that suits people of our age.

Sort of slow-moving, but good exercise.
23
And then we both found that we not only enjoyed it, but were rather good at it.
24
And so now we've got this cup.
25
Strange, really.
26

31
The idea came to me one day in the garden as I was jotting down a few ideas.
32
I thought, what would I do if I won a lot of money?
33
Would it ruin everything, or would it be a new beginning?
34
It's ironic that it should win, but literary prizes are not in the big league financially, so I won't be having any of those problems myself.
35
Now you will hear the recording again.
36
Remember, you must complete both tasks.
