Leçon 18 · Étape 2: Mots du quotidien : pronoms, articles, prépositions
Articles : a / an / the
DébutantArticles: a / an / the
1.A ou an ?
| S'emploie devant | Exemples | |
|---|---|---|
| a | un son consonne | a book, a car, a university /juː/, a uniform, a one-way ticket /w/ |
| an | un son voyelle | an apple, an egg, an idea, an umbrella, an hour (h muet), an MP3 /em/ |
S'il y a un adjectif, regarde le premier son de l'adjectif : an old bike mais a big apple.
She's an honest person.
C'est quelqu'un d'honnête. (h muet → an)
It's a useful app.
C'est une application utile. (useful commence par /j/ → a)
I'll be back in an hour.
Un nom dénombrable singulier a presque toujours besoin de a/an/the/my… devant lui : My mum is a teacher (« ma mère est professeure »). I have a motorbike.
2.Quand utiliser a / an
I saw a really funny video yesterday.
J'ai vu une vidéo super drôle hier.
Is there a pharmacy near here?
My sister is a nurse.
Ma sœur est infirmière. (pas : My sister is nurse)
It's a beautiful day.
Il fait une journée magnifique.
3. Au sens de « par » — fréquence, prix, vitesse
I go swimming twice a week.
Je vais nager deux fois par semaine.
Mangoes are 40,000 dong a kilo.
Les mangues sont à 40 000 dongs le kilo.
3.Quand utiliser the
I ordered a pizza and a salad. The pizza was cold.
We stayed at a small hotel. The owner was really friendly.
On a logé dans un petit hôtel. Le propriétaire était très sympa.
Can you close the window, please?
Excuse me, where's the bathroom?
Excusez-moi, où sont les toilettes ?
3. Il n'en existe qu'un : the sun, the moon, the sky, the sea, the internet
The sun is very strong today.
Le soleil tape fort aujourd'hui.
I found the recipe on the internet.
J'ai trouvé la recette sur internet.
Who's the girl in the red dress?
Qui est la fille en robe rouge ?
The book you lent me is great.
4.a / an ou the
Can I borrow a pen?
Je peux t'emprunter un stylo ? (n'importe quel stylo)
Can I borrow the pen on your desk?
I need a taxi.
J'ai besoin d'un taxi. (pas encore de taxi précis)
The taxi is here.
Le taxi est là. (celui qu'on a appelé)
