Adjective + to-infinitive
it's hard to…, I'm happy to…, nice to meet you — 後ろに to が続く形容詞
|---|---|
| It + be + 形容詞 + to + 動詞 | It's hard to say. |
| It + be + 形容詞 + for + 人 + to + 動詞 | It's hard for me to understand him. |
| It + be + 形容詞 + of + 人 + to + 動詞 | It's kind of you to come. |
| 人 + be + 形容詞 + to + 動詞 | I'm happy to help. |
| 物 + be + 形容詞 + to + 動詞 | This book is easy to read. |
It's difficult to learn English(Is difficult to learn English ではない)。
2.使い方
1. It's + 形容詞 + to + 動詞 — ある行為について意見を言う:easy, hard, difficult, important, necessary, possible, safe, dangerous, nice, great, expensive…
It's important to drink enough water in hot weather.
It isn't easy to find a cheap flat in Hanoi.
It was great to see you last weekend!
Finding a cheap flat isn't easy.
It's hard for me to understand his accent.
It's normal for babies to wake up at night.
3. 人の行動を評価する:It's + 形容詞 + of + 人 + to + 動詞 — kind, nice, good, generous, thoughtful, silly, careless, rude…
It's very kind of you to help me.
It was silly of me to leave my phone in the taxi.
4. 人 + 感情の形容詞 + to + 動詞 — 何かに対する反応:happy, glad, pleased, sorry, surprised, shocked, relieved, lucky, proud, disappointed…
Nice to meet you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're ill.
I was surprised to see Hung at the party.
We were lucky to get the last two tickets.
I'm ready to go.
I'm happy to help if you need anything.
Be careful not to drop it.
(否定:not to + 動詞)
This book is easy to read.
(easy to read it ではない)
His handwriting is hard to read.
3.for か of か? to + 動詞か -ing か?
|---|---|---|
| 誰がするか/誰にとってどうか | for + 人 | It's difficult for kids to sit still. |
| 人の行動をほめる・批判する | of + 人 | It was nice of Lan to call. |
| 自分がすること・見たことへの気持ち | 形容詞 + to + 動詞 | I'm glad to be home. |
| 何かへの感謝や謝罪 | thanks for / sorry for + -ing | Thanks for waiting. / Sorry for being late. |
(I was afraid to ask)。 (I'm afraid of falling)。 I'm afraid (that)…
(Sorry to bother you. / Sorry to hear that.)。自分がしたことには sorry for + -ing か sorry (that) + 節(Sorry for shouting.)。
4.関連:too, enough と the first / the only
It's too hot to sleep. レッスン『「too … to」/「enough to」』を見てください。
- 形容詞 + enough + to + 動詞 = 〜するのに十分なほど…:She's old enough to drive.
