All / every / each / whole
every day vs all day, each of them, the whole book — グループ全体か、一つずつか
1.All、every、each + 名詞
|---|---|---|---|
| all | 複数 / 不可算 | 複数 / 単数 | All the rooms have a balcony. |
| every | 単数 | 単数 | Every room has a balcony. |
| each | 単数 | 単数 | Each room has a balcony. |

All the students in my class have a laptop.
(all + 複数)

Every student has…, Each of them is…
2.Each か every か
| each | every |
|---|---|
each of the / them… |
| — | 頻度:every day, every ten minutes |

The mangoes are 20,000 dong each(= マンゴー1個につき)。We each got a present(= 私たち一人ひとりが)。
3.Every day か all day か
- all day / all morning / all week = その日・朝・週のまるごと全部、始めから終わりまで。ふつう the をつけずに all day と言います。
- the whole day / the whole morning = all day / all morning。
- all the time = いつも、ひっきりなしに。
My dad reads the news every morning.

「all day」と「every day」はまったく違います:I studied all day = ある1日、朝から晩まで(一日中)。I study every day = 毎日。
4.Whole と all
whole =「全体の、まるごとの」。単数の可算名詞といっしょに、前に the / my / a… をつけて使います:the whole book, my whole life, a whole pizza。不可算名詞にはふつう whole ではなく all を使います:all the money, all the information。語順に注意:the whole(the が先)ですが、all the(the が後ろ)です。
| whole | all |
|---|---|
| the whole day | all day |
| the whole cake | all (of) the cake |
| my whole life | all my life |
| —(不可算名詞にはふつう使わない) | all the money, all the information |

5.Everyone、everything と all
Everyone was happy、「He knows all」ではなく He knows everything と言います。 All I want is…
Everyone is waiting for you outside.
