All / every / each / whole
every day vs all day, each of them, the whole book — 전체로 보기 또는 하나씩 보기
1.All, every, each + 명사
|---|---|---|---|
| all | 복수 / 셀 수 없음 | 복수 / 단수 | All the rooms have a balcony. |
| every | 단수 | 단수 | Every room has a balcony. |
| each | 단수 | 단수 | Each room has a balcony. |
Every student in my class has a laptop.
All the students in my class have a laptop.
(all + 복수)
Each ticket costs 100,000 dong.
Every student has…, Each of them is…
2.Each일까 every일까?
둘 다 쓸 수 있는 경우가 많지만(each time / every time), 느낌과 쓰는 형태가 다릅니다:
| each | every |
|---|---|
| 혼자 쓸 수 있음. each of the / them… | 혼자 쓸 수 없음: every one, every one of… |
| — | 얼마나 자주: every day, every ten minutes |

She had a bag in each hand.

(every of가 아님)
Each of them got a small present.
The mangoes are 20,000 dong each(= 망고 한 개에). We each got a present(= 우리 한 사람 한 사람이).
3.Every day일까 all day일까?
- all day / all morning / all week = 그날 / 그 아침 / 그 주 전체, 처음부터 끝까지. 보통 the 없이 all day라고 합니다.
- the whole day / the whole morning = all day / all morning.
- all the time = 늘, 쉬지 않고. every time = ~할 때마다.

Every time I call him, he's busy.
“all day”와 “every day”는 아주 다릅니다: I studied all day = 어느 하루, 아침부터 밤까지(하루 종일). I study every day = 날마다(매일).
4.Whole과 all
whole = 전체의, 온전한. 단수 셀 수 있는 명사와 함께, 앞에 the / my / a…를 붙여 씁니다: the whole book, my whole life, a whole pizza. 셀 수 없는 명사에는 보통 whole이 아니라 all을 씁니다: all the money, all the information. 어순에 주의하세요: the whole(the가 먼저)이지만 all the(the가 뒤)입니다.
| whole | all |
|---|---|
| the whole day | all day |
| the whole cake | all (of) the cake |
| my whole life | all my life |
| — (셀 수 없는 명사에는 보통 안 씀) | all the money, all the information |

5.Everyone, everything과 all
“모든 사람”, “모든 것”에는 everyone / everybody / everything을 쓰고 동사는 단수로 씁니다. all을 이렇게 혼자 쓰는 경우는 보통 없습니다: “All were happy”가 아니라 Everyone was happy, “He knows all”이 아니라 He knows everything이라고 합니다. All I want is…
Everyone is waiting for you outside.

I tried on five dresses, and every one was too small.
