الضمائر الانعكاسية

ضمائر الانعكاس (reflexive pronouns) تنتهي بـ -self (للمفرد) أو -selves (للجمع). ولـ you صيغتان: yourself لشخص واحد وyourselves لأكثر من شخص.

💡hisself وtheirselves وourself ليست من الإنجليزية الفصيحة. لاحظ: myself, yourself, herself, ourselves مبنية على my / your / her / our، أما himself و themselves فمبنيتان على him / them.

1. عندما يكون الفاعل والمفعول به الشخص نفسه

• I cut myself while I was cooking.

  جرحت نفسي وأنا أطبخ.

• Lan looked at herself in the mirror.

  نظرت لان إلى نفسها في المرآة.

• Minh blamed himself for the accident.

  لام مينه نفسه على الحادث. (مينه لام مينه)

• Minh blamed him for the accident.

  لامه مينه على الحادث. (him = شخص آخر)

2. بعض العبارات الشائعة: enjoy yourself (استمتع بوقتك)، help yourself (تفضّل وخذ ما تريد)، make yourself at home (خذ راحتك كأنك في بيتك)، introduce yourself (عرّف بنفسك)، behave yourself (تأدّب)

• We really enjoyed ourselves in Da Lat.

  استمتعنا كثيرًا في دا لات.

• Please help yourselves to some fruit.

  تفضّلوا، خذوا من الفاكهة.

• Let me introduce myself. I'm Hoa.

  اسمحوا لي أن أعرّف بنفسي. أنا هوا.

3. للتأكيد على «هذا الشخص بنفسه لا غيره» — وتأتي عادةً في آخر الجملة أو بعد الشخص مباشرة

• Did you make this cake yourself?

  هل صنعت هذه الكعكة بنفسك؟

• The manager herself came to say sorry.

  جاءت المديرة بنفسها لتعتذر.

by myself / by yourself… وon my own / on your own… تعنيان وحدي أو دون أي مساعدة. والتعبيران بالمعنى نفسه.

• My grandpa lives by himself in the countryside.

  يعيش جدي وحده في الريف.

• Can you finish your homework by yourself?

  هل تستطيع إنهاء واجبك وحدك؟

• I like travelling on my own.

  أحب السفر وحدي.

💡نقول في العربية «بنفسي» لنعبّر عن أننا فعلنا شيئًا دون مساعدة، والإنجليزية تستخدم -self لهذا الغرض: تعلّم بنفسك = teach yourself، أصلحه بنفسك = fix it yourself. وبعد by نستخدم صيغة -self: by myself (وليس by me).

themselves / ourselves = كل شخص يفعل الشيء بنفسه. each other = كل شخص يفعل الشيء بالشخص الآخر (بعضهم بعضًا).

• Lan and Mai looked at themselves in the mirror.

  نظرت لان وماي إلى نفسيهما في المرآة. (كل واحدة نظرت إلى نفسها)

• Lan and Mai looked at each other.

  نظرت لان وماي إحداهما إلى الأخرى. (لان نظرت إلى ماي، وماي نظرت إلى لان)

• My parents love each other very much.

  والداي يحبان بعضهما كثيرًا.

• بعد feel, relax, concentrate, meet لا نستخدم -self عادةً: I feel great (وليس I feel myself great).
• مع أفعال الروتين اليومي مثل wash, shave, dress تُحذف -self عادةً: I got dressed and left. ولا نضيفها إلا للتأكيد على الجهد (My little son can dress himself now).
• بعد حرف جر دال على المكان نستخدم صيغة المفعول به العادية: She put her bag next to her (وليس next to herself).

• Sit down and relax.

  اجلس واسترخِ. (وليس: relax yourself)

• Let's meet outside the cinema at seven.

  لنلتقِ أمام السينما في السابعة. (وليس: meet ourselves)

• ✗He fixed the bike by hisself.

  ✓He fixed the bike by himself.

  hisself ليست من الإنجليزية الفصيحة.

• ✗They enjoyed theirselves.

  ✓They enjoyed themselves.

  الصيغة الصحيحة هي themselves.

• ✗Did you enjoy at the party?

  ✓Did you enjoy yourself at the party?

  enjoy تحتاج إلى مفعول به: enjoy yourself / enjoy the party.

• ✗I feel myself tired.

  ✓I feel tired.

  لا تستخدم myself بعد feel.

• ✗Nam and Lan love themselves.

  ✓Nam and Lan love each other.

  حب الشخص الآخر → each other.

• ✗Help yourselfs to some cake.

  ✓Help yourselves to some cake.

  الجمع: -self → -selves.
