Pronombres reflexivos
PrincipianteReflexive pronouns
Forma y uso
myself, yourself, themselves, by myself, each other — la misma persona que el sujeto
| Pronombre | Reflexivo |
|---|---|
| I | myself |
| you (una persona) | yourself |
| you (varias personas) | yourselves |
| he | himself |
| she | herself |
| it | itself |
| we | ourselves |
| they | themselves |
hisself, theirselves y ourself no son inglés correcto. Fíjate: myself, yourself, herself, ourselves se forman con my / your / her / our, pero himself y themselves se forman con him / them.
2.Cuándo usarlos
I cut myself while I was cooking.
Me corté mientras cocinaba.
Lan looked at herself in the mirror.
Lan se miró en el espejo.
Minh blamed himself for the accident.
Minh se culpó del accidente. (Minh culpó a Minh)
Minh blamed him for the accident.
Minh lo culpó del accidente. (him = otra persona)
2. Algunas expresiones comunes: enjoy yourself (pasarlo bien), help yourself (servirse), make yourself at home (estar como en casa), introduce yourself (presentarse), behave yourself (portarse bien)
We really enjoyed ourselves in Da Lat.
Lo pasamos genial en Da Lat.
Please help yourselves to some fruit.
Sírvanse fruta, por favor.
Let me introduce myself. I'm Hoa.
Permítanme presentarme. Soy Hoa.

The manager herself came to say sorry.
La propia gerente vino a pedir disculpas.
3.By myself, on my own
by myself / by yourself… y on my own / on your own… significan solo o sin ayuda. Las dos significan lo mismo.
My grandpa lives by himself in the countryside.
Mi abuelo vive solo en el campo.
Can you finish your homework by yourself?
¿Puedes terminar la tarea tú solo?
I like travelling on my own.
Me gusta viajar solo.
Después de by, usa la forma en -self: by myself (no by me).
4.¿Themselves o each other?
Lan and Mai looked at themselves in the mirror.
Lan and Mai looked at each other.
Lan y Mai se miraron. (Lan miró a Mai y Mai miró a Lan)
My parents love each other very much.
Mis padres se quieren mucho.
5.Cuándo no usar un reflexivo
- Después de feel, relax, concentrate, meet normalmente no se usa -self: I feel great (no I feel myself great).
I got dressed and left. Solo se añade para recalcar el esfuerzo (My little son can dress himself now).
- Después de una preposición de lugar, se usa el pronombre objeto normal: She put her bag next to her (no next to herself).
Sit down and relax.
Siéntate y relájate. (no: relax yourself)
Let's meet outside the cinema at seven.
