Shadowing Practice: My First Month Living Abroad - Learn English Speaking with Video

1
Hi everyone. I've been living in Lisbon for exactly one month now.
2
So today I want to share what I've learned so far.
3
Honestly, the first week was much harder than I expected.
4
I didn't know anyone, and I couldn't understand the language.
5
On my second day, I got completely lost on the way home.
6
My phone had died, so I couldn't check the map.
7
I had to ask three different people for directions.
8
In the end, a kind old lady walked me to my street.
9
Shopping has also been a bit of an adventure.
10
Last week I bought salt instead of sugar by mistake.
11
My coffee tasted terrible the next morning!
12
Now I always check the pictures on the packaging twice.
13
The best decision I've made so far is joining a language class.
14
I've met people from all over the world there.
15
We often go for coffee after class and practise together.
16
If I hadn't signed up, I'd probably still be eating alone.
17
Of course, I miss my family a lot.
18
We video call every Sunday evening, which really helps.
19
My mum always asks if I'm eating enough.
20
I tell her yes, even when dinner is just toast.
21
What surprised me most is how quickly things get easier.
22
A month ago, ordering a coffee made me nervous.
23
Now I can chat with the barista about the weather.
24
Small wins like that make a huge difference.
25
So, if you're thinking about moving abroad, here's my advice.
26
Don't wait until you feel ready, because you never will.
27
Say yes to invitations, even when you feel tired.
28
And be patient with yourself. It takes time to settle in.
29
Thanks for watching. I'll see you next month!
