Leçon 28 · Étape 3: Projets, demandes et comparaisons
Futur avec « going to »
DébutantFuture with “going to”
Forme et emploi
be going to + verbe — un projet ou ce que l’on voit venir
1.Formation
am / is / are + going to + base verbale.
| Sujet | Affirmation | Négation | Question |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | I'm going to stay | I'm not going to stay | Am I going to stay? |
| he / she / it | she's going to stay | she isn't going to stay | Is she going to stay? |
| we / you / they | they're going to stay | they aren't going to stay | Are they going to stay? |
Questions avec mot interrogatif : What are you going to cook? Who is going to drive? Réponses courtes : Yes, I am. / No, she isn't. I'm going to go… est tout à fait correct, même si ça paraît répétitif.
Deux erreurs courantes : oublier be (I going to…) et oublier to ou modifier le verbe qui suit (going to moving).
I'm going to learn to swim this summer.
Je vais apprendre à nager cet été.
Why are you buying paint? — I'm going to paint my bedroom.
Pourquoi tu achètes de la peinture ? — Je vais repeindre ma chambre.
We're not going to buy a car this year. It's too expensive.
Look at the sky over the river. It's going to rain.
Regarde le ciel au-dessus de la rivière. Il va pleuvoir.
Careful! You're going to spill your coffee.
Attention ! Tu vas renverser ton café.
It's 8:55 and class starts at nine. We're going to be late.
3. Les intentions passées : was / were going to — en général quelque chose qui ne s'est finalement pas fait (voir la leçon « Was going to »)
I was going to call you last night, but my phone died.
3.Going to ou will ?
| be going to | will | |
|---|---|---|
| Exemple | I'm going to buy a new phone. I've saved enough. | Oh, this one's on sale! I'll take it. |
| Exemple | Look at that queue! We're going to wait for ages. | I think the new café will do well. |
Compare dans la même situation :
We're out of milk. — I know. I'm going to get some after work.
Il n'y a plus de lait. — Je sais. Je vais en acheter après le travail. (décidé avant)
We're out of milk. — Oh, are we? I'll get some.
Il n'y a plus de lait. — Ah bon ?
I think it'll be hot tomorrow = I think it's going to be hot tomorrow.
Oui → going to. Je décide maintenant → will.
