Toekomst met “going to”
BeginnerFuture with “going to”
Vorm & gebruik
be going to + werkwoord — een plan of iets dat je ziet aankomen
1.Vorm
am / is / are + going to + grondvorm.
| Onderwerp | Bevestigend | Ontkennend | Vraag |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | I'm going to stay | I'm not going to stay | Am I going to stay? |
| he / she / it | she's going to stay | she isn't going to stay | Is she going to stay? |
| we / you / they | they're going to stay | they aren't going to stay | Are they going to stay? |
Vragen met een vraagwoord: What are you going to cook? Who is going to drive? Korte antwoorden: Yes, I am. / No, she isn't. I'm going to go… is helemaal correct, ook al klinkt het dubbel.
Twee veelvoorkomende slordigheden: be vergeten (I going to…) en to vergeten of het werkwoord erna veranderen (going to moving). In snelle spreektaal klinkt going to vaak als gonna — schrijf gonna alleen in informele berichtjes.
2.Wanneer je het gebruikt
I'm going to learn to swim this summer.
Deze zomer ga ik leren zwemmen.
Why are you buying paint? — I'm going to paint my bedroom.
Waarom koop je verf? — Ik ga mijn slaapkamer schilderen.
We're not going to buy a car this year. It's too expensive.
We gaan dit jaar geen auto kopen. Dat is te duur.
Look at the sky over the river. It's going to rain.
Careful! You're going to spill your coffee.
Pas op! Je gaat je koffie morsen.
It's 8:55 and class starts at nine. We're going to be late.
3. Voornemens in het verleden: was / were going to — meestal iets wat uiteindelijk niet is gebeurd (zie de les “Was going to”)
I was going to call you last night, but my phone died.
3.Going to of will?
| be going to | will | |
|---|---|---|
| Besluit | genomen voordat je spreekt | genomen terwijl je spreekt |
| Voorbeeld | I'm going to buy a new phone. I've saved enough. | Oh, this one's on sale! I'll take it. |
| Voorbeeld | Look at that queue! We're going to wait for ages. | I think the new café will do well. |
Vergelijk dezelfde situatie:
We're out of milk. — I know. I'm going to get some after work.
De melk is op. — Weet ik. Ik ga na het werk wat halen. (eerder besloten)
We're out of milk. — Oh, are we? I'll get some.
De melk is op. — O, echt? Dan haal ik wel wat. (net besloten)
I think it'll be hot tomorrow = I think it's going to be hot tomorrow.
Ja → going to. Besluit je het nu pas → will.
