1.ほとんどの名前には the がつかない
人、都市、ほとんどの国、大陸、省・州、1つの島、1つの山、湖の名前には、ふつう the をつけません。

2.the がつく名前

注意：the north of Vietnam ですが、northern Vietnam（the なし）です。North America, South Korea, Southeast Asia のように方角を含む名前にも the はつけません。
簡単な見分け方：名前に States, Kingdom, Republic, Islands のような普通名詞が入っているか、名前が複数形なら → the をつけます。だから the USA / the United States ですが、America には the をつけません。
3.通り、空港、大学
ほとんどの通り、広場、公園には the をつけません。地名や人名 + 名詞でできた名前（空港、駅、市場、大学、城）にも、ふつう the はつけません。
Our hotel is on Hang Bai Street.
私たちのホテルはハンバイ通りにあります。
The flight lands at Noi Bai Airport at nine.
その便は9時にノイバイ空港に着きます。
My sister studies at Hue University.
姉はフエ大学で勉強しています。

4.ホテル、博物館、of のつく名前
ほとんどのホテル、博物館、劇場、映画館や有名な建物には the をつけます。of のつく名前には、ほぼ必ず the をつけます。

the をつけないもの：人名 + 's / -s の店、レストラン、銀行（McDonald's, Joe's Café, Barclays）、聖人の名前がついた教会（St Joseph's Cathedral）、会社、航空会社、ブランド（Vietnam Airlines, Samsung, Google）、1語として読む略語（ASEAN, NATO, UNESCO）。
同じ場所に2つの呼び方があることもあります：Hue University（地名が先 → the なし）= the University of Hue（of がある → the）。
