1.대부분의 이름에는 the가 없다
사람, 도시, 대부분의 나라, 대륙, 성·주, 하나의 섬, 하나의 산, 호수의 이름에는 보통 the를 쓰지 않습니다.

2.the가 붙는 이름

참고: the north of Vietnam이지만 northern Vietnam(the 없음)입니다. North America, South Korea, Southeast Asia처럼 방위가 들어간 이름에도 the를 쓰지 않습니다.
빠르게 확인하는 법: 이름에 States, Kingdom, Republic, Islands 같은 보통 명사가 들어 있거나 이름이 복수형이면 → the를 붙입니다. 그래서 the USA / the United States이지만, America에는 the가 없습니다.
3.거리, 공항, 대학
대부분의 거리, 광장, 공원에는 the를 쓰지 않습니다. 지명이나 인명 + 명사로 된 이름(공항, 역, 시장, 대학, 성)에도 보통 the를 쓰지 않습니다.
Our hotel is on Hang Bai Street.
저희 호텔은 항바이 거리에 있어요.
The flight lands at Noi Bai Airport at nine.
그 비행기는 9시에 노이바이 공항에 도착해요.
My sister studies at Hue University.
제 언니는 후에 대학교에서 공부해요.
We bought some souvenirs at Ben Thanh Market.

4.호텔, 박물관, of가 들어간 이름
대부분의 호텔, 박물관, 극장, 영화관과 유명한 건물에는 the를 씁니다. of가 들어간 이름에는 거의 항상 the를 씁니다.

the를 쓰지 않는 것: 사람 이름 + 's / -s로 된 가게, 식당, 은행(McDonald's, Joe's Café, Barclays), 성인의 이름을 딴 성당(St Joseph's Cathedral), 회사, 항공사, 브랜드(Vietnam Airlines, Samsung, Google), 한 단어처럼 읽는 약어(ASEAN, NATO, UNESCO).
같은 장소에 이름이 두 개일 수도 있습니다: Hue University(지명이 먼저 → the 없음) = the University of Hue(of가 있음 → the).

지도나 표지판에서는 공간을 아끼려고 the를 생략하는 것이 보통입니다(Mekong River, Pacific Ocean). 완전한 문장으로 말하거나 쓸 때는 the를 다시 붙이세요: We took a boat on the Mekong River.
5.자주 하는 실수
