in the box, on the wall, at the door, next to, between, opposite — ものがどこにあるかを言う
1.in, on, at — 3つの基本イメージ

兄はダナンに住んでいます。
日本語の「〜に」をそのまま置き換えようとすると、前置詞を間違えがちです：鳥がいるのは in the sky（on ではない）、乗客が乗っているのは on the bus（in ではない）。表現を丸ごと覚えるほうが速くて確実です。

用紙のいちばん上に名前を書いてください。
家にいるのは at home です — the はつけず、in home でもありません。家に向かうのは go home です。レッスン「移動の前置詞：to / at / in / into」を見てください。
3.in か at か：都市と建物
都市や国にはいつも in：in Hue, in Japan。建物（学校、銀行、映画館、駅、ホテル）では、ふつう何かの目的でそこにいることを表すなら at、建物の中にいることを強調するなら in を使います。誰かの家は at Lan's (house)、at my grandma's。
I'm at the bank. I'll call you back.
今、銀行にいます。あとでかけ直します。
It's really cold in the cinema, so bring a jacket.
映画館の中はすごく寒いので、上着を持っていってね。（中にいることを強調）
We stayed at a small hotel in Hoi An.
ホイアンの小さなホテルに泊まりました。
We had dinner at my grandma's.
祖母の家で夕食を食べました。（at + 誰かの 's = その人の家で）
4.そのほかの場所の前置詞

The post office is between the bank and the police station.
郵便局は銀行と警察署の間にあります。
There's a pharmacy opposite my house, across the road.
うちの向かい、道路の反対側に薬局があります。
A tall man was standing in front of me, so I couldn't see.
背の高い男の人が前に立っていて、見えませんでした。
in front of と opposite を混同しないようにしましょう。家のすぐ外、道路の同じ側にあるマンゴーの木は、家の in front of にあります。道路の反対側にあって、こちらの家と向き合っている家は opposite です。また、opposite はふつう名詞の直前に置きますが、next to には to、in front of には of が必要なことも覚えておきましょう。
5.よくある間違い
My parents live at Vietnam.My parents live in Vietnam.
国や都市 → in。
There's some water in the floor.There's some water on the floor.
床は表面 → on。
He's in home today.He's at home today.
自分の家にいる = at home。
We had fun in Minh's birthday party.We had fun at Minh's birthday party.
イベント（パーティー、会議、コンサート）→ at。
The bank is next the post office.The bank is next to the post office.
next to には to が必要です。
The shop is between the bank with the café.The shop is between the bank and the café.
between A and B の形にします。

- There's a picture on the wall above my bed.
- Put the ice cream in the freezer, or it will melt.
