1.In, on, at — สามความคิดพื้นฐาน

แปลคำต่อคำจากภาษาไทยมักได้บุพบทผิด: ภาษาไทยพูดว่า “นกบินอยู่บนท้องฟ้า” แต่ภาษาอังกฤษใช้ in the sky ไม่ใช่ on ส่วนผู้โดยสารอยู่ on the bus ไม่ใช่ in จำเป็นวลีทั้งก้อนจะเร็วกว่าและปลอดภัยกว่า

4.บุพบทบอกตำแหน่งอื่น ๆ

อย่าสับสนระหว่าง in front of กับ opposite ต้นมะม่วงที่อยู่หน้าบ้านคุณ ฝั่งเดียวกันของถนน คือ in front of บ้านคุณ ส่วนบ้านที่อยู่อีกฝั่งถนนและหันหน้าเข้าหาบ้านคุณ คือ opposite บ้านคุณ จำไว้ด้วยว่า opposite มักวางหน้าคำนามได้เลย next to ต้องมี to และ in front of ต้องมี of
