1.in, on, at — 세 가지 기본 개념

한국어의 “~에”를 그대로 옮기면 전치사를 틀리기 쉽습니다: 새가 있는 곳은 in the sky(on이 아님), 승객이 타고 있는 것은 on the bus(in이 아님)입니다. 표현을 통째로 외우는 것이 더 빠르고 확실합니다.

서류 맨 위에 이름을 쓰세요.

집에 있는 것은 at home입니다 — the가 없고, in home도 아닙니다. 집에 가는 것은 go home입니다. 「이동 전치사: to / at / in / into」 레슨을 참고하세요.

3.in일까 at일까: 도시와 건물

도시와 나라에는 항상 in: in Hue, in Japan. 건물(학교, 은행, 영화관, 역, 호텔)에는 보통 어떤 목적으로 그곳에 있다고 말할 때 at을, 건물 안에 있다는 것을 강조할 때 in을 씁니다. 누군가의 집: at Lan's (house), at my grandma's.

I'm at the bank. I'll call you back.
지금 은행이에요. 다시 전화할게요.
It's really cold in the cinema, so bring a jacket.
영화관 안이 정말 추우니까 겉옷 챙겨 가요. (안에 있다는 것을 강조)
We stayed at a small hotel in Hoi An.
호이안의 작은 호텔에 묵었어요.
We had dinner at my grandma's.
할머니 댁에서 저녁을 먹었어요. (at + 누군가의 's = 그 사람 집에서)

4.그 밖의 장소 전치사

near	~의 가까이에	Do you live near the school?

Hoa sits next to me in class.
수업 시간에 호아가 제 옆에 앉아요.
The post office is between the bank and the police station.
우체국은 은행과 경찰서 사이에 있어요.
There's a pharmacy opposite my house, across the road.
우리 집 맞은편, 길 건너에 약국이 있어요.
A tall man was standing in front of me, so I couldn't see.
키 큰 남자가 제 앞에 서 있어서 안 보였어요.

in front of와 opposite를 헷갈리지 마세요. 집 바로 밖, 길의 같은 쪽에 있는 망고나무는 집 in front of에 있습니다. 길 건너편에서 우리 집을 마주 보고 있는 집은 opposite입니다. 또 opposite는 보통 명사 바로 앞에 오지만, next to에는 to가, in front of에는 of가 필요하다는 것도 기억하세요.

5.자주 하는 실수

~~My parents live at Vietnam.~~

나라와 도시 → in.

바닥은 표면 → on.

자기 집에 있음 = at home.

next to에는 to가 필요합니다.
