Lección 23 · Etapa 2: Palabras de uso diario: pronombres, artículos, preposiciones

Preposiciones de lugar: in / on / at

Principiante

Prepositions of place: in / on / at

Forma y uso

in the box, on the wall, at the door, next to, between, opposite — decir dónde está algo

1.In, on, at: tres ideas básicas

PreposiciónIdeaEjemplos
indentro de un espacio con límites: una caja, una habitación, una bolsa, una ciudad, un paísin the box, in the kitchen, in my bag, in Hanoi, in Vietnam
onsobre una superficie, tocándola: una mesa, una pared, el suelo, una páginaon the table, on the wall, on the floor, on page 12

  • I'll wait for you at the gate.

    Te espero en la puerta.

  • My brother lives in Da Nang.

2.Expresiones comunes

inonat
in the sky, in the seaon the left, on the rightat home, at work, at school
in a photo, in the mirroron the ground floor, on the third floorat the top / at the bottom of the page

  • We met at a friend's wedding.

  • Write your name at the top of the form.

Estar en tu casa es at home: sin the, y no in home. Ir a casa es go home; mira la lección “Preposiciones de movimiento: to / at / in / into”.

3.In o at: ciudades y edificios

Ciudades y países → siempre in: in Hue, in Japan. En casa de alguien: at Lan's (house), at my grandma's.

  • I'm at the bank. I'll call you back.

Recuerda también: opposite suele ir directamente delante del sustantivo; next to necesita to; in front of necesita of.
