Türkçeden sözcük sözcük çevirmek çoğu zaman yanlış edat verir, çünkü Türkçede hepsi -de/-da'dır: “otobüste” on the bus olur, in değil; “evde” at home; “partide” at a party; “gökyüzünde” ise in the sky. Kalıpları bütün olarak öğrenmek daha hızlı ve güvenlidir.

Evinde olmak at home'dur — the yok, in home da değil. Oraya gitmek go home'dur; “Hareket edatları: to / at / in / into” dersine bak.
3.In mi at mi: şehirler ve binalar
Şehirler ve ülkeler → her zaman in: in Hue, in Japan. Binalarla (okul, banka, sinema, istasyon, otel) orada bir amaçla bulunduğunu söylemek için genellikle at, binanın içinde olmayı vurgulamak için in kullanılır. Birinin evi: at Lan's (house), at my grandma's.
I'm at the bank. I'll call you back.

in front of ile opposite'i karıştırma. Yolun aynı tarafında, evinin hemen önündeki mango ağacı evinin in front of'udur. Yolun karşı tarafında, seninkine bakan bir ev ise seninkinin opposite'idir. Bir de şunu unutma: opposite'ten sonra isim genellikle doğrudan gelir; next to to ister; in front of of ister.
