Lección 97 · Etapa 8: Adjetivos, adverbios y preposiciones
Adjetivo + preposición
IntermedioAdjective + preposition
Forma y uso
good at, interested in, afraid of, worried about — adjetivos con una preposición fija
|---|---|
| un sustantivo | My brother is interested in history. |
| un pronombre | We're really proud of you. |
| una forma en -ing | Lan is good at cooking. |
| pregunta: preposición al final | What are you worried about? |
Después de una preposición, el verbo siempre va en forma -ing (en español usamos el infinitivo: “cansado de esperar”): interested in learning, good at drawing, tired of waiting (no in learn / at draw). Mira la lección “Preposición + -ing”.

4.Variantes británicas, americanas e informales
- different from está bien en todas partes; los británicos también dicen different to, y los americanos a menudo dicen different than.
- angry with alguien es la forma británica estándar; angry at alguien es muy común en inglés americano.
- surprised / shocked / amazed at o by: las dos son correctas.
- bored with es la forma estándar; bored of es muy común al hablar.
- married to va con be / get: She got married to a man from Hue. Pero el verbo marry no lleva preposición: She married him.
No traduzcas la preposición del español; en inglés suele ser distinta: married to (no with, aunque digamos “casado con”), good at (no in, aunque digamos “bueno en”), similar to, afraid of. Aprende cada adjetivo con su preposición como un solo bloque.
