Lezione 97 · Tappa 8: Aggettivi, avverbi e preposizioni
Aggettivo + preposizione
IntermedioAdjective + preposition
Forma e uso
good at, interested in, afraid of, worried about — aggettivi con una preposizione fissa
|---|---|
| un sostantivo | My brother is interested in history. |
| un pronome | We're really proud of you. |
| una forma in -ing | Lan is good at cooking. |
| domanda: preposizione alla fine | What are you worried about? |
Dopo una preposizione il verbo va sempre nella forma in -ing: interested in learning, good at drawing, tired of waiting (non in learn / at draw), mentre in italiano useremmo l'infinito. Vedi la lezione “Preposizione + -ing”.

4.Varianti britanniche / americane e informali
- different from va bene ovunque; i britannici dicono anche different to, e gli americani spesso different than.
- angry with qualcuno è la forma britannica standard; angry at qualcuno è molto comune in inglese americano.
- surprised / shocked / amazed at o by: sono corretti entrambi.
- bored with è la forma standard; bored of è molto comune nel parlato di tutti i giorni.
- married to va con be / get: She got married to a man from Hue. Ma il verbo marry non vuole preposizione: She married him.
Non tradurre la preposizione dall'italiano: spesso in inglese è diversa. “Sposato con” è married to (non with), “bravo in” è good at (non in). E anche quando coincide (similar to = simile a, afraid of = aver paura di), impara ogni aggettivo insieme alla sua preposizione, come un'unica unità.
