1.Cấu trúc
Nhiều tính từ đi với một giới từ cố định khi có tân ngữ theo sau: tính từ + giới từ + danh từ / đại từ / V-ing. Giới từ thường không đoán được từ tiếng Việt, nên hãy học cả cụm, ví dụ học afraid of chứ không chỉ học afraid.

Sau giới từ, động từ luôn ở dạng -ing: interested in learning, good at drawing, tired of waiting (không phải in learn / at draw). Xem bài “Giới từ + -ing”.

3.Một tính từ, nhiều giới từ
Một số tính từ đổi giới từ tùy theo phía sau là người hay sự việc, hoặc đổi luôn nghĩa.

4.Biến thể Anh-Anh / Anh-Mỹ và văn nói
- different from dùng được ở mọi nơi; người Anh còn nói different to, người Mỹ hay nói different than.
- angry with someone là cách nói chuẩn trong Anh-Anh; angry at someone rất phổ biến trong Anh-Mỹ.
- surprised / shocked / amazed at hoặc by đều đúng.
- bored with là chuẩn mực; bored of rất hay gặp trong văn nói.
- married to dùng với be / get: She got married to a man from Hue. Nhưng động từ marry thì không có giới từ: She married him.
Đừng dịch giới từ từ tiếng Việt: “kết hôn với” là married to (không phải with), “giỏi về” là good at, “giống với” là similar to. Còn “sợ chó” tiếng Việt không cần giới từ, nhưng tiếng Anh phải là afraid of dogs.
5.Lỗi thường gặp
