Lição 97 · Etapa 8: Adjetivos, advérbios e preposições
Adjetivo + preposição
IntermédioAdjective + preposition
Forma e uso
good at, interested in, afraid of, worried about — adjetivos com preposição fixa
1.A estrutura
|---|---|
| um substantivo | My brother is interested in history. |
| um pronome | We're really proud of you. |
| uma forma em -ing | Lan is good at cooking. |
| pergunta: preposição no final | What are you worried about? |
Depois de uma preposição, o verbo sempre vai na forma -ing: interested in learning, good at drawing, tired of waiting (e não in learn / at draw). Veja a lição “Preposição + -ing”.

| Estrutura | Sentido | Exemplo |

| kind / nice / good / silly of sb (to do) | um comentário sobre o que alguém fez | It was kind of you to help me. |

4.Variações britânicas / americanas e informais
- different from está certo em qualquer lugar; os britânicos também dizem different to, e os americanos muitas vezes dizem different than.
- angry with alguém é a forma britânica padrão; angry at alguém é muito comum no inglês americano.
- surprised / shocked / amazed at ou by: as duas formas estão corretas.
- bored with é a forma padrão; bored of é muito comum na fala do dia a dia.
- married to vai com be / get: She got married to a man from Hue. Mas o verbo marry não leva preposição: She married him.
