Lección 56 · Etapa 4: Tiempos verbales y modales
Oraciones temporales de futuro
IntermedioFuture time clauses
Forma y uso
when / as soon as / until + presente, … will — el presente tras estas palabras, con sentido de futuro
1.La estructura
Cuando hablas de dos cosas en el futuro, la frase suele tener dos partes: una oración principal (con will, be going to, un imperativo…) y una oración temporal que empieza con when, as soon as, until, before, after…
|---|---|
| I'll call you | when I get home. |
| We're going to leave | as soon as the rain stops. |
| Please wait here | until I come back. |
| Let's buy some snacks | before the film starts. |
| She'll feel better | after she gets some rest. |
When I get home, I'll call you.
Cuando llegue a casa, te llamo. (oración temporal primero: coma)
I'll call you when I get home.
I get home, no when I will get home.
2.Conectores frecuentes
| Palabra | Significado | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| when | cuando, en el momento en que | I'll tell her when I see her. |
| as soon as | en cuanto, nada más | Text me as soon as you land. |
| after | después de que | We'll go for a walk after we eat. |
| before | antes de que | Turn off the lights before you leave. |
| until / till | hasta que | I'll stay here until you're ready. |
| while | mientras | I'll cook while you set the table. |
| once | una vez que, en cuanto | Once you try it, you'll love it. |
| by the time | para cuando | By the time we get there, the shop will be closed. |
I won't buy a new phone until this one stops working.
Don't open the oven until the cake is ready.
I'll lend you this book when I've finished it.
When I see Minh, I'll give him your message.
You can watch TV after you've done your homework.
I'll read a book while I'm waiting for you.
Leeré un libro mientras te espero. (presente continuo)
Con after y as soon as, el presente simple y el present perfect suelen significar lo mismo: after I finish = after I've finished.
4.¿When o if?
I'll call you when I get to the hotel.
Te llamo cuando llegue al hotel. (seguro que llego)
I'll call you if I get lost.
Te llamo si me pierdo. (puede que me pierda o no)
When the shop opens, I'll buy some bread.
Cuando abra la tienda, compraré pan. (seguro que va a abrir)
If the shop is still open, I'll buy some bread.
“I'll let you know when I get the results” (los resultados llegarán seguro). “Call me if there's a problem” (puede que no haya ninguno).
5.Cuándo se sigue usando will después de when
When will you be back?
¿Cuándo vuelves? (una pregunta: will)
I don't know when she'll arrive.
No sé cuándo llegará. (objeto de know: will)
Tell me when you arrive.
Avísame cuando llegues. (oración temporal: presente)
Tell me when you'll arrive.
Dime cuándo vas a llegar. (preguntas a qué hora: will)
6.Errores comunes
I'll call you when I will arrive.I'll call you when I arrive.
As soon as she will finish, we'll leave. As soon as she finishes, we'll leave.
Después de as soon as, va el presente simple.
We won't start until he will come.We won't start until he comes.
Después de until, va el presente simple.
When he get home, I'll tell him. When he gets home, I'll tell him.
Sigue siendo presente simple, así que he/she/it lleva -s.
After I'll finish work, I'm going to the gym. After I finish work, I'm going to the gym.
I'll lend you the book when I will have read it.I'll lend you the book when I've read it.
Para mostrar que está “terminado”, usa el present perfect, no will have.
Ejemplos
- I'll send you the photos when I get home.
- As soon as the rain stops, we'll go out.
- I'll wait here until you come back.
- I'll text you as soon as I land in Đà Nẵng.
