Do you know where … is? I wonder what … — 文の中の疑問は平叙文の語順になる
1.形
間接疑問文とは、別の文の中に入った疑問文のことです（Do you know…?、Could you tell me…?、I wonder…）。中の疑問文は平叙文の語順、つまり 疑問詞 + 主語 + 動詞 になり、do / does / did はなくなります。

does / did がなくなると、その時制は本動詞に移ります：What time does it open? → … what time it opens. Why did she leave? → … why she left.
2.どんなときに使うか
1. 丁寧に尋ねるとき（特に知らない人、お客様、上司に） — 直接の疑問文よりやわらかく聞こえます
Excuse me, do you know where the nearest ATM is?
すみません、いちばん近い ATM がどこにあるかご存じですか？
Could you tell me how far it is to the airport?
空港までどのくらいの距離か教えていただけますか？
Would you mind telling me what you think of the plan?
この計画についてどう思われるか、お聞かせいただけますか？
2. 知りたいこと・わからないことを言うとき — これらは平叙文なので、ピリオドで終わります
I wonder what she wants for her birthday.
彼女は誕生日に何が欲しいのかな。
I have no idea where he went last night.
彼が昨夜どこに行ったのか、まったくわかりません。
I can't remember where I parked the car.
車をどこに停めたか思い出せません。
- 疑問文の出だし（?）：Do you know…? / Could you tell me…? / Can you tell me…? / Do you have any idea…? / Would you mind telling me…? / Can you remember…?
- 平叙文の出だし（.）：I wonder… / I don't know… / I'm not sure… / I have no idea… / I'd like to know… / I can't remember…
- 文末の記号は、中の疑問文ではなく外側の文に合わせます。
3.Yes/No 疑問文：if / whether
Yes/No 疑問文には疑問詞がないので、if か whether を加えます。意味は同じですが、whether のほうが少し改まっていて、よく or not と一緒に使います。
Do you know if the restaurant is open today?
今日そのレストランが開いているかご存じですか？
I'm not sure whether it will rain or not.
雨が降るかどうかわかりません。
It depends on whether we have enough time.
十分な時間があるかどうかによります。（前置詞の後は whether のみ）
I can't decide whether to buy it.
それを買うかどうか決められません。（to + 動詞の前は whether のみ）
4.疑問詞が主語のとき
who / what / which が主語のときは、直接疑問文がすでに平叙文の語順（do/did なし）なので、間接疑問文でも何も変わりません。レッスン「主語を尋ねる疑問文と目的語を尋ねる疑問文」も見てください。
Who broke the window? → Do you know who broke the window?
誰が窓を割ったの？→ 誰が窓を割ったか知っていますか？
What happened? → Can you tell me what happened?
何があったの？→ 何があったのか教えてくれますか？
ただし be + 名詞 の場合は、be が最後に移ります：Who is that man? → Do you know who that man is?（who is that man ではない）。
間接疑問文は今尋ねているので、時制をずらしません：Do you know where she lives? 時制をずらすのは、他の人の質問を伝えるときだけです：She asked me where I lived — レッスン「間接話法」を見てください。
5.よくある間違い
Do you know where is the post office?Do you know where the post office is?
中の疑問文は平叙文の語順：主語 + 動詞。
I wonder what does she want for her birthday.I wonder what she wants for her birthday.
does を取り、本動詞に -s をつけます。
Can you tell me does this bus go to Ben Thanh Market?Can you tell me if this bus goes to Ben Thanh Market?
Yes/No 疑問文 → if/whether + 平叙文。
Do you know how old is your grandfather?Do you know how old your grandfather is?
How old + 主語 + be。
Could you tell me where did you buy that jacket?Could you tell me where you bought that jacket?
did を取り、本動詞を過去形にします。
I don't know where she's going?I don't know where she's going.
外側の文が平叙文なので、ピリオドで終わります。
