Fiil + kişi + to-mastar

Başka birinin bir şey yapmasını istediğini söylemek için (want, ask, tell, advise…) fiil + nesne (kişi) + to + fiil kullan. Kişi nesne hâlinde olur: me, you, him, her, us, them ya da bir isim.

💡Öğrenciler sık sık “I want that you come” diye çeviriyor ya da “I want you come” diyor. İngilizcede üç parçanın üçü de gerekir: want + you + to come. Kişi nesne hâlinde olur: want him (he değil) to come.

1. İstemek, beklemek, ihtiyaç duymak: want, would like, expect, need

• My parents want me to study medicine.

  Ailem tıp okumamı istiyor.

• I'd like you to meet my cousin, Hoa.

  Seni kuzenim Hoa ile tanıştırmak istiyorum.

• The coach expects us to train every morning.

  Antrenör her sabah antrenman yapmamızı bekliyor.

2. Rica etmek, söylemek, hatırlatmak, davet etmek: ask, tell, remind, beg, invite, help

• Can you remind me to buy some eggs?

  Bana yumurta almamı hatırlatır mısın?

• The teacher told us not to use dictionaries.

  Öğretmen sözlük kullanmamamızı söyledi.

• Minh invited me to join his band.

  Minh beni grubuna katılmaya davet etti.

3. Tavsiye etmek, ikna etmek, cesaretlendirmek, uyarmak: advise, encourage, persuade, convince, warn, urge

• The doctor advised me to get more sleep.

  Doktor daha fazla uyumamı tavsiye etti.

• My friends persuaded me to try karaoke.

  Arkadaşlarım beni karaokeyi denemeye ikna etti.

• They warned us not to swim after dark.

  Hava karardıktan sonra yüzmememiz konusunda bizi uyardılar.

4. İzin vermek, zorlamak, imkân vermek, öğretmek: allow, permit, force, enable, teach, get (= ikna etmek, günlük dil)

• The rain forced us to stay indoors.

  Yağmur yüzünden içeride kalmak zorunda kaldık.

• This app allows you to track your spending.

  Bu uygulama harcamalarını takip etmeni sağlıyor.

• My grandpa taught me to fish.

  Dedem bana balık tutmayı öğretti.

• I finally got my brother to clean his room.

  Sonunda kardeşime odasını temizletmeyi başardım.

Anlamı benzer bazı fiiller kişi + to + fiil almaz. Başka bir kalıp kullan. make ve let to olmadan kişi + yalın fiil alır — “Make / let” birine yaptırmak dersine bak.

advise, allow, permit, encourage ile: fiilden sonra bir kişi varsa → to + fiil; kişi yoksa → -ing. recommend ile en güvenli seçenekler -ing ya da that'li bir yan cümledir: I recommend booking early / I recommend (that) you book early.

• I'd advise you to bring a raincoat. / I'd advise bringing a raincoat.

  Sana yağmurluk almanı tavsiye ederim. / Yağmurluk almanı tavsiye ederim.

• They don't allow people to park here. / They don't allow parking here.

  Burada insanların park etmesine izin vermiyorlar. / Burada park etmeye izin verilmiyor.

Edilgen yapı çok yaygındır: be allowed to, be asked to, be told to, be advised to, be expected to.

• You're not allowed to bring food into the cinema.

  Sinemaya yiyecek getirmenize izin verilmiyor.

• Passengers are asked to keep their bags with them.

  Yolculardan çantalarını yanlarında tutmaları rica ediliyor.

💡Rica ve emirleri aktarırken de bu kalıp kullanılır: “Please sit down,” she said. → She asked me to sit down. “Don't be late!” → He told us not to be late. “Dolaylı anlatım” dersine de bak.

  want, that'li yan cümle almaz.
