it takes + time/effort + to-verb — מה שדרוש כדי לעשות משהו
1.צורה
It takes + זמן / מאמץ + to + verb מבטא כמה זמן או מאמץ משהו דורש. It הוא נושא ריק; רק take משתנה לפי זמן (take – took – taken).

לומדים לעיתים משתמשים ב-lose או spend עם it. כאן, הפועל לזמן שנדרש הוא תמיד take: It took me two hours to fix the printer. כאשר האדם הוא הנושא, השתמשו ב-spend + -ing: I spent two hours fixing it.
2.איך משתמשים בזה
1. הזמן שנדרש לעשות משהו
It takes about two hours to get from Hanoi to Hai Phong by bus.
זה לוקח בערך שעתיים להגיע מהאנוי להאי פונג באוטובוס.
It took me three years to learn to drive.

2. לשאול כמה זמן: How long does / did / will it take…?
How long does it take to boil an egg? — About seven minutes.

תשובות קצרות: זה לוקח בערך שעה. / לא הרבה זמן. / המון זמן! (זמן רב מאוד) / זה תלוי בתנועה.
3. מאמץ, תכונות או דברים שנדרשים: It takes + practice / patience / courage / money…
It takes a lot of practice to play the guitar well.
צריך הרבה תרגול כדי לנגן טוב בגיטרה.
It takes courage to speak in front of a big crowd.
צריך אומץ כדי לדבר מול קהל גדול.
4. כאשר מישהו או משהו אחר צריך את הזמן: for + person / thing + to + verb
It took six weeks for my visa to arrive.
לקח שישה שבועות עד שהוויזה שלי הגיעה.
It took ages for the bus to come.
לקח המון זמן עד שהאוטובוס הגיע.
אפשר גם להפוך את הפעולה לנושא: The journey takes six hours. / Getting a visa took us six weeks. גם אדם יכול להיות הנושא: היא took ages to reply.
3.Take בזמנים שונים

כאשר הזמן הסתיים, השתמשו בעבר פשוט, לא במתמשך: It took me five years to finish my degree.
4.Take, spend, last, need

5.טעויות נפוצות

נהוג להשתמש ב-it takes + זמן + to + פועל כדי לומר כמה זמן לוקח לעשות משהו.
