提建議

英語有好幾種句型可以用來建議做什麼。關鍵是記住每種句型後面接什麼形式的動詞。

💡How about / What about 以介詞 about 結尾，所以後面的動詞要用 -ing：How about going…?（不說 How about go…?）。其他句型都接動詞原形，不加 to。

1. 建議一起做某事——Let's…、Shall we…?、Why don't we…?、How about…?

• It's so hot. Let's go for a swim.

  太熱了。我們去游泳吧。

• Shall we take a break? I'm exhausted.

  我們休息一下好嗎？我累壞了。

• Why don't we cook at home tonight?

  今晚我們為什麼不在家做飯呢？

2. 建議別人可以做什麼——Why don't you…?、Why not…?、You could…

• You look tired. Why don't you lie down for a bit?

  你看起來很累。為什麼不躺一會兒呢？

• If the shirt is too big, why not change it?

  如果襯衫太大，為什麼不去換一件呢？

• You could ask your teacher for help.

  你可以請老師幫幫你。

3. 徵求建議——What / Where / When shall we…?

• What shall we do this weekend?

  這個週末我們做什麼呢？

• Where shall we meet? — How about the café near the station?

  我們在哪兒見面？——車站附近那家咖啡館怎麼樣？

4. 提出一個選項——How about / What about + 名詞或代詞

• I can't do Friday. What about Sunday?

  星期五我不行。星期天怎麼樣？

• I'd like a pizza. How about you?

  我想吃比薩。你呢？

💡Why don't you…? 可能是真正的提問，也可能是建議——要靠語境和語調來判斷。“Why don't you eat meat?” 可能是在問原因。“Why don't you take a break?” 是建議，聽話人不需要解釋什麼。

這些句型的意思差不多，但有的比別的更直接：

• Let's go, shall we?

  我們走吧，好嗎？（Let's 後面的反意疑問是 shall we）

• Maybe we could leave a bit earlier to avoid the traffic.

  也許我們可以早點出發，避開堵車。

• Shall we get a taxi? — Yes, let's. It's getting late.

  我們打車好嗎？——好啊。天快黑了。

• Let's watch a horror film. — Hmm, I'd rather not. How about a comedy instead?

  我們看恐怖片吧。——嗯，我還是不看了。換成喜劇怎麼樣？

💡對別人的建議只說 “No.” 顯得很生硬。加上一個簡短的理由或別的主意（Maybe another time — I'm busy tonight.），聽起來自然、禮貌得多。

轉述別人的建議，或者更正式地提出建議時，用動詞 suggest。它後面接 -ing 或 (that) + 從句——不能用 suggest + 人 + to 不定式。

• Minh suggested going to the night market.

  阿明建議去逛夜市。

• I suggest we leave before the rain starts.

  我建議我們在下雨之前出發。

• The doctor suggested that I drink more water.

  醫生建議我多喝水。（不說：suggested me to drink）

• ✗How about go to the cinema?

  ✓How about going to the cinema?

  about 後面用 -ing。

• ✗Why don't we going to the night market?

  ✓Why don't we go to the night market?

  Why don't we + 動詞原形。

• ✗Shall we to start now?

  ✓Shall we start now?

  shall 後面不加 to。

• ✗Let's to eat out tonight.

  ✓Let's eat out tonight.

  Let's + 動詞原形，不加 to。

• ✗Why not to take a taxi?

  ✓Why not take a taxi?

  Why not + 動詞原形，不加 to。

• ✗She suggested me to call the hotel.

  ✓She suggested (that) I call the hotel.

  suggest 後面不能接 人 + to 不定式。
