Lezione 63 · Tappa 5: Passivo, discorso indiretto e domande
La forma passiva con “get”
IntermedioPassive with “get”
Forma e uso
get + V3 — got fired, get paid: qualcosa succede a qualcuno
1.Forma
Nel parlato puoi usare get + V3 al posto di be + V3. Get è un verbo normale, quindi cambia come qualsiasi altro verbo: get / gets / got, e la negativa e la domanda vogliono do / does / did.
| get + V3 | be + V3 | |
|---|---|---|
| Affermativa | He got fired. | He was fired. |
| Negativa | He didn't get fired. | He wasn't fired. |
| Domanda | Did he get fired? | Was he fired? |
| Present simple | We get paid on Fridays. | We are paid on Fridays. |
| Present continuous | The bridge is getting repaired. | The bridge is being repaired. |
| Futuro | You'll get hurt. | You'll be hurt. |
| Present perfect | She's got promoted. / She's gotten promoted. (AmE) | She's been promoted. |
| Dopo to / -ing | I don't want to get caught. / Nobody likes getting ignored. | I don't want to be caught. / Nobody likes being ignored. |
Non usare be e get insieme: “I was got hurt” è sbagliato. Scegline uno: I got hurt oppure I was hurt.
2.Quando si usa
1. Succede qualcosa a qualcuno o a qualcosa, spesso all'improvviso o in modo spiacevole
My phone got damaged in the rain.
Il mio telefono si è rovinato sotto la pioggia.
Be careful with that knife, or you'll get hurt.
Attento con quel coltello, o ti fai male.
Our neighbours got robbed last weekend.
Lo scorso fine settimana i nostri vicini sono stati derubati.
2. Un cambiamento o un risultato che arriva a qualcuno, anche cose belle
Lan got promoted last month.
Il mese scorso Lan è stata promossa.
Do you get paid every month or every week?
Ti pagano ogni mese o ogni settimana?
I got invited to Mai's party tonight.
Stasera sono invitato alla festa di Mai.
3. Inglese informale e parlato: nello scritto formale, negli avvisi e nelle relazioni si usa be + V3
My wallet got stolen at the market.
Mi hanno rubato il portafoglio al mercato. (parlato, raccontandolo a un amico)
Several items were stolen from the building.
Diversi oggetti sono stati rubati dall'edificio. (notiziario: formale)
Get + V3 non è solo per le brutte notizie: get fired e get fined sono spiacevoli, ma get paid, get promoted e get invited sono cose belle.
3.Get o be?
- Get si usa solo per azioni e cambiamenti, non per stati: This house is owned by my aunt (non: gets owned).
- Get spesso fa pensare a qualcosa di inaspettato, o a qualcosa che il soggetto ha in parte causato: He got caught cheating in the exam.
- Per informazioni formali, oggettive o ufficiali, be suona più naturale: The museum was built in the 19th century.
If you park here, you'll get fined.
Se parcheggi qui, ti prendi una multa.
Visitors who park here will be fined.
I visitatori che parcheggiano qui saranno multati. (un cartello: formale)
Two people got injured in the crash.
Due persone si sono ferite nell'incidente.
4.Da non confondere con get + aggettivo e get something done
- get + aggettivo = diventare: get tired, get angry, get cold, get better. Alcuni V3 funzionano come aggettivi in espressioni fisse: get married, get dressed, get lost, get bored, get worried, get changed.
- get + cosa + V3 = qualcun altro lo fa per te: I got my car washed — vedi la lezione “Have something done”.
They got married in Da Nang last year.
Si sono sposati a Da Nang l'anno scorso.
I got lost on my way to the hotel.
Mi sono perso andando in albergo.
I got cut on some broken glass. / I got my hair cut.
Mi sono tagliato con un vetro rotto. / Mi sono fatto tagliare i capelli. (get + V3 / get + cosa + V3)
5.Errori comuni
He got fire because he was always late.He got fired because he was always late.
Dopo get usa il V3.
I was got hurt while I was playing football.I got hurt while I was playing football.
Non usare be e get insieme.
Our neighbours got robbing last weekend. Our neighbours got robbed last weekend.
Il passivo usa il V3, non la forma in -ing.
Did you got paid yesterday?Did you get paid yesterday?
Dopo did, usa la forma base get.
I wasn't get invited.I didn't get invited. / I wasn't invited.
Get è un verbo normale, quindi la negativa vuole didn't.
This house gets owned by my aunt. This house is owned by my aunt.
Own è uno stato, non un'azione: usa be, non get.
