“Have something done”
IntermedioForma e uso
have/get + oggetto + V3 — far fare qualcosa a qualcun altro
1.Forma
| Tempo verbale | Esempio |
|---|---|
| Present simple | I have my car serviced every six months. |
| Present continuous | We're having the kitchen painted this week. |
| Past simple | Mai had her nails done yesterday. |
| Present perfect | Have you had your eyes tested recently? |
| Futuro | I'm going to have my hair cut tomorrow. |
| Dopo un modale | You should have the brakes checked. |
| Negativa / domanda | I didn't have it repaired. / Where do you have your hair cut? |
Qui have è un verbo normale, quindi domande e negative usano do / does / did: Did you have your teeth checked? (non: Had you your teeth checked?).
2.Quando si usa
We had the roof repaired after the storm.
Dopo il temporale abbiamo fatto riparare il tetto.
Linh had her photo taken for her CV.
I'm too busy to clean the flat, so I have it cleaned every Friday.
My laptop was very slow, so I got it repaired at a shop.
Il mio portatile era lentissimo, così l'ho fatto riparare in un negozio.
Where do you usually get your car washed?
I finally got my visa sorted out.
Hung had his bike stolen outside the cinema.
She had her bag snatched in the street.
Lo stesso vale per I repaired my bike (l'ho riparata io) e I had my bike repaired (l'ho fatta riparare).
3.Strutture facili da confondere
| Frase | Significato |
|---|---|
| I cut my hair. | Li ho tagliati da solo. |
| I had my hair cut. | Me li ha tagliati un parrucchiere. |
| I had cut my hair. |
| I had the barber cut my hair. | have + persona + forma base: dice chi l'ha fatto (più comune nell'inglese americano). |
| I got my brother to cut my hair. | get + persona + to + verbo: hai convinto qualcuno a farlo. |
4.Errori comuni
I had cut my hair at the barber's yesterday.I had my hair cut at the barber's yesterday.
La cosa va tra have e il V3; had cut è il past perfect.
She's getting her jacket clean before the party. She's getting her jacket cleaned before the party.
We need to have the windows wash.We need to have the windows washed.
Dopo la cosa usa il V3.
I'm going to have cut my hair this weekend.I'm going to have my hair cut this weekend.
L'ordine è have + cosa + V3.
Had you your teeth checked last year?Did you have your teeth checked last year?
Qui have è un verbo normale → la domanda si fa con did.
I repaired my phone at a shop near my house.I had my phone repaired at a shop near my house.
