Listening Part 1.
6
Questions 1 to 7.
7
Now we are ready to start.
8
For each question, choose the correct answer.
9
1. How is the girl going to help her dad?
10
What's for dinner, dad?
11
Vegetable soup and there's some really nice bread and cheese I bought at the market.
12
Nice.
13
Can I give you a hand?
14
I'll cut the vegetables up if you want.
15
I've already asked your brother to do that.
16
He's just finishing his homework before he comes down.
17
I guess we need that doing now, though.
18
He could lay the table instead.
19
That's fairly quick and easy, and I'm sure he won't mind.
20
True.
21
Or there's always the washing up to do afterwards.
22
He can choose which.
23
Now listen again.

38
2. Which place would the boy most like to visit? Did you see
39
Nature Around the World on TV last night?
40
I did.
41
Last week's programme on islands was amazing enough, but seeing rainforests in that much detail was even better.
42
I'm sure they're very difficult places to spend time in though.
43
I'm not sure I'd want to meet some of the creatures they showed.
44
No, but then the same would be true in most of the places they filmed.
45
It would, although I like all the animals they filmed in the desert.
46
And the atmosphere there would be amazing to experience.
47
I suppose so.
48
Now listen again. Did you see

57
3. What's the girl learning to do?
58
How are the badminton lessons going?
59
I gave them up a couple of weeks ago, actually.
60
I wasn't making much progress, so I changed to something that goes with my character better.
61
Let me guess.
62
Something to do with IT?
63
You know me so well.
64
I thought about trying something practical, like fixing bikes, because mine's always breaking down.
65
My dad doesn't mind repairing it when it does, though, so I went for writing computer programs instead.
66
I think I'd prefer to learn a new sport, but hey, we're all different.
67
Now listen again.

4. What did the boy forget to buy? Did you get everything?
78
I think so.
79
I got two pizzas like you asked.
80
One with cheese and one with chicken.
81
I said we'd already got those, don't you remember?
82
Anyway, it doesn't matter.
83
I can put these ones in the freezer.
84
The salad was reduced today, so I got plenty of that.
85
And you said we had enough ice cream, so that's everything.
86
I said I didn't think we had any left.
87
Perhaps you got that mixed up with what I said about the pizzas.
88
Oh, maybe.
89
Never mind.
90
Now listen again. Did you get everything?
91
I think so.
92

5. Where did the girl leave her glasses?
104
Hi, I think I left my glasses at your house.
105
I only use them for reading, so I didn't notice I'd forgotten them till now.
106
I was using them in your bedroom when we were looking at that website together on your laptop on your desk.
107
I remember taking them off though when we were watching the film in your living room, so it's worth checking on the sofa.
108
I remember I left them on the table by your front door once, but I'm pretty sure I haven't done that again.
109
Now listen again.

6. Why was the boy late for school?
116
You're late, Kevin.
117
Was the traffic bad?
118
No worse than usual, miss.
119
I set my alarm clock for 7 .30, which gives me enough time to have some breakfast and get to school.
120
But this morning I couldn't find my history essay, which I've got to hand in today.
121
It took ten minutes to remember where I'd left it.
